Sir Tim Smit - How big ideas make great places

Brought to you by The SEAM

The SEAM - Barnsley's digital campus, is headline sponsor of this year's Sheffield Digital Festival.

It's a forward thinking plan to develop a place based campus in the town centre following on from the success of the DMC. It's with this in mind that we're fortunate to be able to invite Sir Tim Smit, co founder of the remarkable 'Eden Project' to our live event on Airmeet. The Eden project made £1 Billion for the local economy in Cornwall. Since its opening in 2001, over 22 million people have come to see a once sterile pit, turned into a cradle of life.

We'll have a welcome from Joada Allen - Director of Visualised IT and President of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce. This will be followed by an introduction from DR Simon Biltcliffe, Founder & CEO of Webmart UK, who will set a tone around innovation, thinking differently and that great things can emerge from anywhere, Barnsley included.

The main Keynote speaker will of course be Sir Tim Smit, discussing ‘How big ideas make great places.’ Where did the idea for the Eden Project come from? What impact has it had in its area? Any future plans? Insight into how innovation happens, what his approach is, and advice for others.

All three guests will then engage in a fireside chat on the topics discussed as well as answering selected questions we’ll be taking during the event.
