Sheffield IoT Meetup: 'IoT in Rail'

The theme for this meeting is 'IoT in Rail' - hearing from business leaders and technology experts on the use of digital technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT), in the rail industry.
We’re delighted to be part of the Sheffield Digital Festival 17-21 May 2021 and its ‘Remote Control’ theme.

The meeting will be held ONLINE using Blackboard Collaborate – the link to join will be sent to those who have registered via Eventbrite in due course.

- Mark Davies, Ioetec - Welcome
- Karen Beardsley, Managing Director, Unipart Rail Operations (Doncaster) - UK Rail Research Innovation: supporting innovation by non-rail industry companies with transferrable skills, knowledge and technology into the rail industry.
- Lucy Prior, Business Engagement Director and Martin Gleadow, Head of IT and Support, 3Squared(Sheffield) - "3Squared: making the #DigitalRailway RailSmart" - 3Squared’s start-up to SME journey and how they are bringing new tech to old rail, including the use of IoT.
- Richard Gardiner, AMRC, Deputy Head of Automotive & Transport Strategy and Sector Lead - Rail (Rotherham and Sheffield) - How the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre is supporting the rail industry in maintenance, manufacturing optimisation and remote condition monitoring.
Regional updates
Time permitting, we will host an open 5-10 minutes towards the end for anyone wishing to do a shout out about their relevant IoT activity / events / interests.

- Create a vibrant group around IoT and cybersecurity that enables individuals and organisations to share their capability and stimulate discussion and collaboration (sales-type pitches are discouraged).
- Enable real-world IoT applications, through facilitating technology research/development and commercial progress.
- Help position Sheffield City Region as a leading IoT centre and lay the groundwork for larger events/activities that reinforce this reputation.
We will follow Sheffield Digital’s code of conduct for meetups.
