Not Normal User Interaction
Brought to you by Sheffield Hallam University
Join academic experts from Sheffield Hallam University to explore the challenges of user interaction.
About this event
Dr Chris Roast, Reader from Sheffield Hallam University's Computing Department, will explore the challenges of designing interactive systems for intrinsically complex interaction.
The popular view of good user interface design is to promote intuitive and easily understood use. However, it is not always that simple. The growing power of digital devices means that detailed operations are now commonly delegated to the user to configure. While this is often appropriate, it exposes the user to interactions that will rarely be normal or intuitive.
Using examples and simple governing principles, we argue that good UI design has its own significant challenges.
