Free Coding Taster Session

Would you like to get started coding in a relaxed and supportive environment? Then come along to our free coding taster session.

Led by instructors from The Developer Academy Ltd and the great team at Hive IT, there will be a 30 minute coding session and we'll answer questions such as... What is code? How do I get started? What opportunities will coding open up to me? What's life like as a software developer? What local tech employers are looking for? This session is aimed at absolute beginners so you don't need any prior knowledge.

Agenda:

• 12.15pm - 12:30pm: Arrival, drinks and light snacks
• 12:30pm - 12:45pm: Introduction. What is code? How do I get started? What are the opportunities?
• 12:45pm - 1.15pm: Coding session. Get hands on with some coding!
• 1.15pm - 1:30pm: Industry talk from Liz Hnat, Hive IT.
• 1:30pm: Wrap up and Q&A

Please note: We have a limited number of laptops, if you have your own, please bring it with you to the session.

What do you need to know?
The session is free of charge and you only need to bring yourself, your laptop and charger. If you would like to be greeted upon arrival, please let us know and we can certainly arrange this for you. Drinks and light snacks will be provided. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know. It's okay if you've never coded before, this session is aimed at beginners and we will help get you started. It's okay if you're going to be late, just send us a message via twitter or Instagram to let us know.
